Abstract
This study intends to inquire into the loneliness of children raised by grandparents according to home environmental properties. The targets are elementary school students from 4th to 6thgrades in the Gwangju metropolitan city and Jeollanam-do regions. For samples, indirect questionnaire surveys were conducted in 4 elementary schools, 3 social welfare facilities, and 2 public health facilities. Among the collected questionnaires, a total of 103 copies were used as study targets, excluding insincere questionnaires and questionnaires of children rasied by single parents, children raised by facilities, and children rasied by parents. To measure children¡¯s loneliness of those raised by grandparents, 0 Hyun Mi¡¯s loneliness scale (2000), which was verified its reliability, was used to measure the degree of loneliness. The Cronbach¡¯s alpha for this study is. 72. The collected data was analyzed using an SPSS statistical program, Tìétest and ANOVA were also conducted. The findings led to the following conclusions. First, in inquiring about the differences in loneliness of children raised by grandparents according to demographical properties, there were no meaningful differences according to sex distinction, grade, number of siblings, and order of brothers. Second, in inquiring about the differences in loneliness of children raised by grandparents according to home environmental properties, there were meaningful differences according to reasons to live with grandparents, contact objects, contact method, and frequency of meetings, but there was no meaningful difference according to the period of cohabitation with grandparents.
